چکیده

This classification is artificial, unsatisfactory and based on unsound biochemical investigation. Gandin (1913) was the first person to question the possibility of such differentiation. Collecting all recorded cases in the literature, he found wide discrepancies and stated that but o. i per cent. of finely emulsified fat is necessary to produce a turbid fluid. He believes that all milky fluids are due to an admixture of chyle and rejects the terms chyliform and pseudo-chylous as unwarranted.

Chylous pleural effusion: A rare presentation of Non-Hodgkin- Lymphoma

Chylous pleural effusion is characterized by milky-appearing fluid with elevated triglyceride content and presence of chylomicrons in the pleural space. Even though patients with lymphoma sometimes present with malignant pleural effusion, chylous effusion is rarely encountered as a presenting feature in such patients. We present a 47-year-old woman diagnosed as follicular lymphoma who presented...

Isolated non-chylous pleural effusion in two neonates.

Isolated pleural effusion, so called primary pleural effusion denotes a pleural effusion without documented etiology such as a cardiac, inflammatory, iatrogenic problem or fetal hydrops. Chromosomal anomaly such as Down syndrome may be associated with isolated pleural effusion. The content of the isolated pleural effusion is mostly chylous, and isolated non-chylous pleural effusion in neonate i...

Chylous Pleural and Peritoneal Effusion in a Cat with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus ; Diagnosis by Lipoprotein Electrophoresis

Chyloperitoneum is an uncommon condition in contrast to chylothorax in cats [4, 6]. However, there are cases with a diagnosis of idiopathic chylous effusion in which a cause is not identified [2, 3]. There have been many publications describing the effects of feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) on cats. However to the present authors’ knowledge this is the first report of a cat with chylous ple...

Additional Octreotide Therapy to Sirolimus Achieved a Decrease in Sirolimus-refractory Chylous Effusion Complicated with Lymphangioleiomyomatosis

Recently, sirolimus, an inhibitor of mammalian target of rapamycin, was reported to decrease chylous effusion in patients with lymphangioleimyomatosis (LAM). We herein report a case of a 34-year-old woman with LAM who developed refractory chylothorax and chylous ascites during sirolimus therapy. In this case, to reduce chylous effusion, we administered octreotide, which is often used to control...

A Rare Case of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus with Chylous Ascites and Chylothorax

During the course of the disease a patient with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) may develop inflammation of one or more serous membranes, resulting in pleural, peritoneal, or pericardial effusion. Chylous ascites and chylothorax have rarely been described in patients with SLE. Therefore, in parallel with the analysis of blood samples, detailed analysis of the effusions should be carried out....
